Owner and Occupational Therapist

Jamie Matveyeff

Jamie Matveyeff is a Senior Occupational Therapist and the Founder of YCOT, with a passion for integrating assistive technology and innovative design into the built environment. His focus is on creating spaces that enhance safety, security, and independence for every individual.

With over 25 years of experience, Jamie has worked across a broad range of acute and community health settings, including medical and surgical care, orthopaedics, spinal cord injury, palliative care, geriatrics, acquired brain injury, and home modifications. His career spans both the Australian and British healthcare systems, giving him a diverse and well-rounded perspective.

As the healthcare landscape has shifted towards greater consumer choice and control, Jamie recognised an opportunity to apply his expertise in a new way. He is committed to designing future-focused, adaptable homes that support people to live safely and independently—both now and into the future.

Professional Experience

Prior to founding Your Choice OT Home Modification Services, Jamie spent 10 years with LifeTec Australia, where he played a key role in managing and expanding the delivery of their Homes for Life services.

During this time, LifeTec Australia was selected as one of a small number of providers approved to deliver assessments and recommendations for NDIS Complex Home Modifications. Jamie led the coordination of these services across Queensland and into northern New South Wales, ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes across multiple locations.

With the introduction of the NDIS Complex Home Modifications program, Jamie embraced a more holistic approach to home design. This included integrating structural modifications with smart assistive technology, home automation, telecare, and telehealth—moving beyond traditional solutions to create more responsive and future-ready living environments.

Jamie also previously managed the Spinal Cord Injury Response Major Home Modification Program (SCIR PHMp), a government-funded initiative supporting individuals with newly acquired spinal cord injuries. Through this work, he oversaw complex home modifications across Queensland, helping participants transition safely back into their homes and communities.

Education and Training

Since establishing Your Choice, Jamie has remained committed to sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of Occupational Therapists. He has lectured and tutored at university level, highlighting the importance of thoughtful design within home and community environments and demonstrating how meaningful changes can improve access and independence.

Jamie is also actively involved in professional education, delivering workshops, webinars, and presentations on home modifications for both the general public and healthcare professionals. He has presented at national conferences, contributing to the ongoing development and awareness of best practice in home modification and accessible design.
